Resources for engaging with the State government

Find Your Representative

Calling your lawmaker might seem intimidating, but it's actually very easy! Here's everything you need to find and call your representatives in Montgomery:

STEP 1: Find your legislator.

STEP 2: Call your legislator. You can find their number here:

STEP 3: Tell your legislator what you want.

All you need to say is who you are, where you are from, and how you want them to vote. Remember to include the following things in your message:

  • State your name, district, and who you are calling.

    • Hello! My name is Janelle Smith. I’m a resident from Senate District 4 and I’m calling to leave a message for Sen. Gudger.

  • State why you are calling. Include the bill number and what action you’d like your lawmaker to take.

    • I’m calling to ask Sen. Gudger to VOTE NO on SB63.

  • Extra Credit– tell them why.

    • This anti-immigrant bill unfairly targets immigrant communities, increase the risk of racial profiling, is excessively punitive, and needlessly cruel.
